My work emerges from two extremes in natural environments where I have lived: the Gulf Coast, with its verdant land and furious hurricanes, and New Mexico, spare, dry, and meditative. Through. painting, experimental encaustic printing, and installation, I examine nature's chaos and beauty through abstraction. I aim to illuminate ecological urgency and my personal journey across terrain that metaphorically mirrors life's events. I intentionally use mercurial materials that are partly out of my control, including heat, wax, and pigment, because they lead me to unplanned ideas and fresh imagery.
